Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. Announces Leadership Succession

Eugene Lundrigan to take on additional accountabilities as President, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. while continuing to head up business strategy for the global asset manager; Heather Wolfe joins team as Senior Managing Director, Head of Business Development and Client Relationships

Toronto, ON – (March 28, 2018) — Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. is today announcing the recent appointment of Eugene Lundrigan into an expanded role as President, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. He will also continue to lead business strategy on behalf of Sun Life Investment Management globally.

Since its formation in 2014, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. has grown quickly by providing successful private asset class strategies to the Canadian institutional market. Eugene, who joined Sun Life in 1997, is well positioned to lead Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. into the next phase of its growth, with the expanded role providing the firm with greater resources to serve Canadian institutional Clients.

In addition, the firm is also pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Wolfe to the position of Senior Managing Director, Head of Business Development and Client Relationships, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc., reporting to Eugene. Heather joined Sun Life in 2011 to help grow the Defined Benefit (DB) Solutions business. In this new role, Heather will be responsible for achieving the firm’s sales targets and delivering excellent client service.

As part of this realignment, Carl Bang is no longer with the organization. We thank Carl for his many contributions to Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

In 2017, the firm was recognized by Benefits Canada as the fastest growing Canadian pension asset manager for asset managers with AUM's between $1 billion and $10 billion. Eugene Lundrigan, President, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. and Head of Business Strategy, Sun Life Investment Management

In his role as President, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada), Eugene will be responsible for all aspects of the firm’s business in Canada, including product strategy, distribution, client service and marketing. In his role as the Head of Business Strategy for Sun Life Investment Management, Eugene will continue to oversee product development, marketing, consultant relations and various ongoing strategic initiatives.

Having joined Sun Life in 1997, Eugene has held a range of senior level positions, including Senior Managing Director of Canadian Public Fixed Income, various leadership roles in wealth management, marketing and strategy in Asia, head of the International Investment Centre that manages Sun Life Assurance’s relationships with investment managers around the world, as well as various roles within Sun Life Investment Management’s Business Strategy group. He was also Chief Operating Officer of Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. from its inception to 2016.

Eugene has a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and an M.B.A. (Finance) from McMaster University. He is also a CFA Charterholder and member of the Toronto CFA society.

Heather Wolfe, Senior Managing Director, Head of Business Development and Client Relationships, Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc.

In this new role, Heather Wolfe will be responsible for achieving Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc.’s sales targets and delivering excellent client service. She will also work closely with Bentall Kennedy and the Defined Benefit (DB) Solutions team to coordinate our client-facing activities in the marketplace.

Heather Wolfe joined Sun Life in 2011 to help grow the DB Solutions business. She was Managing Director, Client Relationships, leading the sales, service and marketing teams for DB Solutions until the end of 2017.

In 2018, Heather took on the role of Managing Director, LDI Strategy, where she was responsible for creating and selling customized investment solutions to Canadian institutional investors. Through both roles, Heather has worked closely with Sun Life Investment Management, including Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc. to meet the needs of Canadian institutional investors.

Prior to joining Sun Life, Heather held senior roles at TD Bank (AVP, Retirement & Savings Plans) and Mercer (Consulting Actuary). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto and is a qualified actuary in the U.K., Canada and the U.S.
