The Sun Life Private Fixed Income Plus Fund is managed and distributed by Sun Life Institutional Investments (Canada) Inc.

The investments are sourced and managed by the same team of experienced professionals that are responsible for the public bond and private fixed income portfolios in Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada's insurance General Account.

Investment Objective¹

The Fund seeks to achieve total return by providing income while preserving capital over the long term, by investing primarily in a diverse portfolio of private and public fixed income assets.

Investment Strategy¹

To achieve the investment objective, The Fund seeks to achieve a total return by providing income while preserving capital over the long term. The Fund invests primarily in a diverse portfolio of private and public fixed income assets, and takes advantage of pricing inefficiencies often found in the private fixed income market in geographies including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe and Australia.

Private fixed income asset types that we actively pursue include:

• Project Finance, where investments provide long-term debt financing for infrastructure projects such as hydro, wind, co-generation, geothermal and solar power, as well as Public Private Partnerships (P3) including hospitals, bridges, retention facilities, court houses and public transit systems;
• Private Debt, where investments offer private senior-secured or unsecured loans to larger borrowers;
• Mid-Market Finance, where investments focus on lending to mid-market companies in North America which tend to have limited access to public capital markets; and
• Private Securitization Finance, where through our Private Securitization Finance group, we secure lease/loan obligations purchased from small-and-medium-sized leasing companies.

The Fund will consider private debt investment opportunities from a diverse range of geographies including Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Continental Europe and Australia. Through global origination capabilities we have access to broad, ongoing deal flow and are able to source diversified, high quality investments for our portfolio.
